Workshops & Speakers

THIS LIST IS NOT FINAL: More will be added...
All of the workshops this year have even more specific focus.

Kristina Nekyia - Morning Warmup

Trained in circus contortion at San Francisco Circus Center and with the Mongolian National Circus in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. She has been a flexibility instructor at Cirque School LA in Hollywood, CA and has performed internationally on stage and screen.

Jimmy Slonina "Slap a Story Together"

Falling out of a chair or getting a wedgie can be funny on their own, but give it a good story and you've got gold. Jimmy runs you through a quick and dirty approach to making a physical skit with fun characters; a beginning, middle, and end.

The Chicago Sun-Times described him as "an exceptional physical clown." Jimmy is currently starring as the concert host/emcee of P!NK's The Truth About Love Tour, entertaining tens of thousands every night in North America, Europe and Australia.

Shannon Dedman "Gotta give ya props"

Say you wanna hit your friend in the head with a brick, but you want them to stay your friend, you'll need a little prop trickery. With Shannon, you get a basic introduction to the construction of hard-looking-soft things, sturdy-looking-brittle things and non-slicy-clear things -- how they're made and how you can get your hands on them.

Shannon has worked in all the aesthetics of theater from prop-making to set dressing to puppetry. She's been a part of some good places like Pasadena Playhouse, Redcat, Disney and the Kennedy Center. Trust her, she can make things that don't hold up.

Tuba Heatherton"It's a safe space (even though we are beating each other up). What's not to love?!" -- Tuba Heatherton (Clown / TV Star)
Kate Conklin "pain proof"

When learning by observing, we can get the wrong impression of how the body works. Kate helps you put effort in the right places and takes the unnecessary pain and strain out of physical comedy.

Kate teaches Voice, Alexander Technique and the neurobiology of performance practice. Her work has been called "simple and instantly adoptable, yet radical and groundbreaking." She specializes in working with high-level performers whose work demands both excellent technique and profound artistry.

Benedikt Negro "cartoon physics"

Real life on stage doesn't look like real life. Benedikt teaches you to project pain, momentum and effort beyond the natural. Turn your movement from a whisper to a shout.

Benedikt Negro is a pantomime and clown who currently stars in Cirque du Soleil's water show, "O". He trained at Die Etage School for the Performing Arts in Berlin.

Remy Holwick & Ryan Mellors "Props Alive!"

Learn how to make interactions with props come alive using a combination of pantomimed technique and conflict creation, escalation, and resolution.

Ryan Mellors is a juggler who has toured his unique style of 'juggling illusions' with major circus production companies in France, England, Germany, the US and Canada. Remy Holwick with a BA in mime is a contact juggler and movement specialist living and working in Los Angeles. For the last decade, she has studied and performed across the us and Europe.

Roger Fojas "Beat Up on the Beat"

Music, if used right, can add power to any act and slapstick is no different. Roger shows you through a short dance piece (that you'll learn) how to harness the emotional power of music to channel expectation, surprise and emotion.

Roger Fojas is a vaudeville performer , clown and choreographer who has toured internationally with Lucent Dossier Experience. He specializes in works in emotion and character which he often brings into his offbeat works of choreography and clowning.
